1. Avoid Public Wi-Fi. These spots are unsecured networks that are at times used to distribute malware or capture data – which might include yours.
2. Secrecy is key. Shopping online? Only give out the minimum amount of information needed to finish your order.
3. Don’t click to change or win. Get emails indicating there’s been fraud on your bank or credit card account? Delete them! Phone the bank or company as they’ll never ask for your id and password via an email.
4. Privacy Policies hold the keys. Read them. It’s always wise to understand why information will be sold to 3rd party providers.
5. Educate yourself. Be proactive and understand how to avoid identity theft before it happens.
